Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask before pressing play. Still curious afterwards? kenjaplayer@kofukuai.com

What is KenjaPlayer?
A video player for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV with on-device AI: it generates real-time subtitles in 20+ languages, translates speech as you watch, summarizes long videos into clickable chapter timelines, plays 100+ formats up to 8K HDR, and streams directly from Jellyfin, Plex, SMB, WebDAV and FTP.
Do AI subtitles really work without internet?
Yes. Recognition, translation and summaries all run entirely on your device — Apple's Speech framework on iPhone, iPad and Mac, bundled Whisper CoreML models on Apple TV. Nothing is uploaded, so it all works offline.
Which languages can it recognize and translate?
Speech recognition in 20+ languages — Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French, German and more — with translation into 25+ target languages, shown as clean dual subtitles.
Which devices and system versions are supported?
iPhone and iPad (iOS/iPadOS 26+), Mac with Apple silicon (macOS 26+) and Apple TV (tvOS 18+). One download, universal purchase.
Is KenjaPlayer free? What does PRO cost?
Free to download, with full format playback and a generous AI allowance (subtitles, summaries and high-res plays). A one-time PRO unlock removes the limits — no subscriptions, no recurring charges, ever.
Is my data private?
Completely. No personal data collected, no analytics or ad SDKs, no account required. All AI runs on-device; media-server credentials stay in your device's local storage. See the privacy policy.
Can it play MKV, RMVB or AVI files on iPhone and Mac?
Yes — 100+ containers and codecs including MKV, RMVB, AVI, WMV, FLV, WebM, TS and DivX, with hardware-accelerated decoding up to 4K/8K HDR. A bundled libmpv engine covers everything AVFoundation can't.
Does it work with Jellyfin, Plex, Emby or a NAS?
Yes — direct connections to Jellyfin (Emby supported), Plex, and file servers over SMB, WebDAV and FTP. No intermediary servers; your credentials never leave the device.
Can I export the AI transcript or subtitles?
Yes — transcripts export as standard SRT files; summaries export as Markdown or plain text.
Does the AI summary feature need Apple Intelligence?
Summaries use Apple's on-device Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence). Without it, subtitles and translation still work — summaries are skipped.
How do I get support or report a problem?
Email kenjaplayer@kofukuai.com — bug reports and feature requests are read.
